Analyst says the OLED MacBook Pro will feature a touch screen

Ming-Chi Kuo says Apple’s first OLED MacBook Pro, set to enter mass production next year, will feature a touch screen.

I’m skeptical, but I hope he’s right: in a post on X, Ming-Chi Kuo says Apple’s first OLED MacBook Pro, set to enter mass production next year, will feature a touch screen.

“MacBook models will feature a touch panel for the first time, further blurring the line with the iPad,” he writes. “This shift appears to reflect Apple’s long-term observation of iPad user behavior, indicating that in certain scenarios, touch controls can enhance both productivity and the overall user experience.”

If this happens, the laptop would be the first Mac with a touch screen. As far as an OLED MacBook Pro, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has said the laptop will have a thinner design. And analyst Ming-Chi Kuo thinks the high-end model could increase the screen size to 17-inches. And I’ll be upset if the updated pro laptop lacks a cellular option.

Apple is also rumored to be planning a more affordable MacBook model powered by an iPhone processor. Kuo says that it will start mass production in the fourth quarter of the year, but won’t (no surprise) have a touch screen display.
