Apple plans to launch a new “TechWoven” line of cases for the upcoming iPhone 17 models, according the leaker known as “Majin Bu.”
He/she says the cases will be made of an “innovative material designed to overcome the shortcomings of the controversial FineWoven. Majin Bu says TechWoven blends the strength of a technical fabric with a premium aesthetic and that its “refined yet robust texture” is engineered to: provide protection against impacts, scratches, and daily wear; and deliver an elegant, minimalist look.
Apple’s FineWoven cases were poorly received. They quickly accumulated visible wear and tear and picked up bits of lint, which could make them look dirty quickly. After introducing the FineWoven brand with a series of very bad cases and accessories in 2023, Apple opted not to release new cases featuring the material for the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro. In fact, Apple has stopped offering FineWoven cases for the iPhone 15 lineup on its website, too.
Apple will likely unveil its iPhone 17 line-up at a special event on Tuesday, September 9, according to German mobile phone providers — as noted by iphone-ticker.de.
