How to share passwords in iOS 16 and iPadOS 16

iOS and higher and iPadOS offers a quick way to share your password (though you should, of course, do this with care).

iOS and iPadOS offer a quick way to share your password (though you should, of course, do this with care). To share a password in iOS 16 and iPadOS 16:

  • Ensure both you and the people you want to share with have devices running iOS 17, iPadOS 17, or macOS 14 or later.
  • You must be signed in to your Apple ID with iCloud Keychain enabled.
  • Turn on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on both devices. 

Creating a Shared Group

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Scroll down and tap Passwords.
  3. Tap the blue + icon in the top-right corner.
  4. Tap New Shared Group.
  5. Enter a name for your shared group.
  6. Tap Add People and type the name of the person you want to invite.
  7. Tap Add to include them in the group.
  8. Tap Create to finalize the group.
