Apple reportedly will replace the Apple TV 4K with a new model this year

Apple is highly likely to replace the current ‌Apple TV‌ 4K with a new model later this year, according to MacRumors.

According to a source “familiar with the company’s plans,” Apple is highly likely to replace the current ‌Apple TV‌ 4K with a new model later this year, according to MacRumors

The current model will be discontinued.

This lines up with a January report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. He’s predicting a new set-top box along with new HomePod minis between September and October.

Gurman thinks the next Apple TV set-top box and HomePod mini will sport an Apple-designed Bluetooth and Wi-Fi chip. He also says that the processor, referred to as “Proxima” internally at Apple, will appear in the iPhone 17 line-up.

The chip will support Wi-Fi 6E, though Apple may not be able to match all of Broadcom’s chip capabilities with the first-generation in-house Wi-Fi chip. Gurman says that adopting a custom-designed Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip will allow Apple’s upcoming smart home devices to work better together and perhaps “synchronize data more quickly.”

He thinks that the Apple TV set-top box high arrive at a lower price: US$99. And Gurman adds that, unsurprisingly, there will likely be new color options for the HomePod mini.

Also, no major design changes have been rumored for the next Apple TV specifically, but Gurman said Apple has considered adding a built-in camera to a future model.
