Apple may debut a new Apple Intents feature alongside the ‘personalized’ Siri in spring 2026

Apple purportedly plans to ship a new App Intents feature in spring 2026 that would allow Siri to take actions for you.

Apple plans to ship a new App Intents feature in spring 2026 that would allow Siri to take actions for you, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says in his latest “Power On” newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. This would arrive alongside the long-anticipated, “personalized” Siri, he adds.

“The plan now is to ship the feature alongside a broader Siri infrastructure overhaul in the spring and market it heavily. But there’s some concern inside the company, I’m told,” Gurman writes. “Engineers have been struggling to ensure that the system works with a sufficient number of apps and is accurate enough to handle high-stakes scenarios. There are worries about the software failing in categories where precision is nonnegotiable, like in health or banking apps.”

He adds that Apple is reportedly working with a number of large companies to conduct testing prior to the rollout, to ensure things work properly. Gurman says the tech giant is purportedly testing the App Intents functionality with such third-party appsas Uber, Amazon, YouTube, and Facebook, as well as, of course, its own apps.

Apple has been heavily criticized for the delay of a more personalized version of Siri. On March 7 Apple announced that it was delaying the anticipated Siri update with more specialized features until 2026.

In a June statement to Daring Fireball, Apple spokesperson Jacqueline Roy had this to say: “Siri helps our users find what they need and get things done quickly, and in just the past six months, we’ve made Siri more conversational, introduced new features like type to Siri and product knowledge, and added an integration with ChatGPT. We’ve also been working on a more personalized Siri, giving it more awareness of your personal context, as well as the ability to take action for you within and across your apps. It’s going to take us longer than we thought to deliver on these features and we anticipate rolling them out in the coming year.”

Check out an interview inTom’s Guide where Apple execs Craig Federighi and Greg Joswiak talked about the delay of personalized Siri.
