Apple may adopt tandem OLED display technology for future iPhones

Apple may adopt tandem OLED display technology for iPhones as soon as 2028 if panel supplier LG Display has its way, according to a new report from DealSite.co.kr (as noted by MacRumors).

The article says LG Display has succeeded in developing a tandem organic light-emiting diode (OLED) panel based on low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) for laptops. And it could come to the iPhone.

Tandem OLED screens combine two separate OLED devices, also known as OLED modules. Each module emits light individually and, in some cases, can be independently controlled. Screens using tandem OLED tech can be brighter, last longer, and use less power than single-OLED screens.
