How to use the Look Around feature in Maps in iOS 16

iOS 13 introduced a Look Around feature in the Maps app that’s powered by the new basemap and high-resolution 3D photography. It delivers street-level imagery of a city with smooth transitions.

To use the Look Around feature in Maps on iOS 16, first navigate to the desired location on the map. If Look Around is available, a binoculars icon will appear near the bottom of the screen or next to the location’s information card. Tap the binoculars icon to enter Look Around mode, where you can explore the area with 360-degree panoramic views.

Here are details of the steps:

° Launch the Maps app and either search for a specific address or navigate to the area you want to explore.

° If Look Around is available for that location, a binoculars icon will appear near the bottom of the screen or on the location’s information card.

° Tap the binoculars icon to enter Look Around mode.

° To explore the area:

  1. Pan: Drag your finger across the screen to look around the area.
  2. Move Forward: Tap on the scene to move forward along the street.
  3. Zoom: Pinch open to zoom in and pinch closed to zoom out.
  4. Full Screen: Tap the full screen button to expand to full screen or the exit button to return to the standard view.
  5. Tap the “Done” button to exit Look Around mode and return to the regular map view.
