After designing your Memoji, you can then send it in Messages and FaceTime according to your emotion. If you have a compatible iPhone or iPad Pro, you can create an animated Memoji that uses your voice and replicates your facial expressions. Let’s look at how to use an animated Memoji in Messages in iOS 17 and iPadOS 17:

  1. Open Messages: Launch the Messages app on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Start a New Conversation or Select One: Begin a new message thread or choose an existing one.
  3. Access Memoji: Tap the “+” button, slide down, and choose “Memoji.”
  4. Choose Your Memoji: Swipe through your created Memojis and select the one you want to use.
  5. Record Your Message: Tap the red record button to capture your voice and facial expressions. You can record for up to 30 seconds.
  6. Stop Recording: Tap the stop button when you’re finished recording.
  7. Send: Tap the send button to send the animated Memoji.
  8. Sticker Option: To send it as a sticker, touch and hold the Memoji and drag it into the message thread.
