Here’s how to create a Memoji in iOS 17 and iPadOS 17

Your iPhone and iPad have the ability to create “Memoji" characters that can be created and customized right within Messages.

Your iPhone and iPad have the ability to create “Memoji” characters that can be created and customized right within Messages by choosing from a set of inclusive and diverse characteristics to form a unique personality.  To create your own in iOS 17 and iPadOS 17:

  1. Open Messages and tap the Compose button to start a new message. Or go to an existing conversation.
  2. Tap the Plus button .
  3. Swipe up or tap More .
  4. Tap Memoji .
  5. Swipe right and tap New Memoji.
  6. Customize the features of your memoji — like skin tone, hairstyle, eyes, and more.
  7. Tap Done.
