Don’t look for an ‘iPad Fold’ next year, as Apple apparently pauses work on a foldable tablet

Don’t look for an "iPad Fold" next year. A new rumor says that Apple has apparently paused work on a foldable tablet.

Apple has paused work on a foldable iPad, reports DigiTimes (a subscription is required to read the article). The “iPad Fold” was expected to debut alongside a foldable iPhone in 2026.

DigiTimes says that the reason for the pause in production includes manufacturing difficulties and increased production costs. This doesn’t mean that work on an “iPad Fold” has ended. It’s just been put on hold for now.

As for an “iPad Fold,” it will feature an under-display Face ID claims Digital Chat Station. The rumor says that one of Apple’s engineering prototypes features an 18.8-inch foldable screen with a “metal superstructure lens” that integrates the receiver and transmitter components of Face ID for under-display facial recognition.
