A new report from Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman offers his predictions about the details of what to expect from Apple’s software overhauls that will be unveiled next week.
You’ll need a subscription to read the entire article, but here’s what he’s forecasting (much of which has been predicted before):
° macOS, iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, and watchOS updates will be dubbed macOS 26, iPadOS 26, tvOS 26, and watchOS 26.
° macOS, iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, and watchOS interfaces will be tweaked to look more “glass-like” akin to visionOS.
° iOS 26’s tool and tab bars will look different, and there will be redesigned app icons and other buttons. There’s also a strong focus on the use of pop-out menus, meaning users can click a button to get a quick list of additional options.
° Safari will get a “significantly updated look” for Safari with a “more transparent and glassy address bar.”
° The previously Mac-only Preview app will come to the iPhone and iPad.
° CarPlay will get a redesign.
° The Message app will add support for automatic translations and polls.
° Apple will introduce a dedicated games app.
° The Camera app will get a significant design revamp.
° Apple is “completely revamping multitasking features on the iPad to be more Mac-like.” ew multitasking features might even require users “to be hooked up to a keyboard and trackpad,” meaning certain functionality may not be available at all when using an iPad in ‘tablet mode.’
Apple will host its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) online from June 9 to 13, 2025. Developers and students will also have the opportunity to celebrate in person during a special event at Apple Park on June 9.
Available for free to all developers, WWDC25 will spotlight the latest advancements in Apple software. As part of Apple’s ongoing commitment to supporting developers, the conference will provide them with unique access to Apple experts, as well as insight into new tools, frameworks, and features, says Susan Prescott, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations.
