Apple previewed iOS 26 earlier this month at its Worldwide Developer Conference. However, the tech giant didn’t reveal all the features of the operating system update, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says in his latest “Power On” newsletter.
One is live translation via AirPods, which would allow users to have live conversations with someone else in a different language, and hear it translated in real time via AirPods.
The second is syncing captive Wi-Fi connections across all your Apple devices to make using public Wi-Fi a more seamless experience.
The latter would’ve made public Wi-Fi a much easier experience, as it would’ve eliminated the need to log into public Wi-Fi portals, such as those at coffee shops and hotels, across your entire Apple ecosystem. Once you logged into one, it’d sync across them all.
“At WWDC, Apple was careful not to announce anything that wasn’t close to shipping (either in the first version of iOS 26 or an update soon after),” Gurman says. “The company didn’t want to risk repeating WWDC 2024, where it announced several features — including some tentpole technology — that were ultimately delayed by months or have yet to arrive.”
