Analyst Ross Young says an ‘all-screen’ iPhone is still five years away

In a new post, analyst Ross Young says an "all-screen" iPhone is still five years away and not coming with the 20th anniversary iPhone.

Last month ETNews reported that Apple is developing a 20th anniversary iPhone for 2027 that may have a bezel-less display that curves around all four of its edges. However, in an X post today, analyst Ross Young cast doubt that this will happen.

In his post this is what he’s predicting for upcoming iPhone displays:

2026 – smaller notch as some under panel Face ID elements remain in the notch rather than transparent under the panel.

2028 – all under panel Face ID elements except the selfie camera are hidden under the panel without a notch. Selfie camera remains separate

2030 – selfie camera under the panel. No punch hole or notch.

If Young is right, this means that an “all-screen” iPhone is still five years away.

However, other pundits disagree. For example, a May report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said the 20th anniversary smartphone will have a mostly glass, curved iPhone — without any cutouts in the display.
