Rumor: Apple testing a 200MP camera for some iPhones

This iPhone 18 concept is courtesy of ConceptCentral.

Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station (as noted by Cult of Mac) says Apple is testing a 200MP camera for some iPhones.

While the initial Weibo post didn’t provide more details, the leaker later indicated in a reply that the 200MP shooter is “most likely the main camera.” Digital Chat Station didn’t mention which iPhones might include such a camera, my guess would be the iPhone 18 Pro and/or Pro Max in 2026.

As for next year’s smartphones, here’s a round-up of some rumors:

° The iPhone 18 Pro Max will feature under-display Face ID.

They will have a major leap in memory performance.

° They will have A20 chips manufactured with TSMC’s 2nm process.

° They will sport the C2 modem, a follow-up to Apple’s C1 modem.

° They will pack a 3nm A20 processor updated for Apple Intelligence.

° Apple’s A20 chip in iPhone 18 models will switch from the previous InFo (Integrated Fan-Out) packaging to WMCM (Wafer-Level Multi-Chip Module) packaging.
