How to schedule a notification summary on your iPhone or iPad

Notifications alert you to many things on your iPhone and iPad, including incoming messages, new emails, and calendar events. Notifications work slightly differently for each app; however, you can schedule a notification summary in iOS 15 or iPadOS 15 or later.

To schedule notification summaries on your iPhone or iPad, go to Settings > Notifications > Scheduled Summary. Turn on the feature, then choose the time you want the summary to appear and select which apps you want to include. You can customize the summary with up to 12 scheduled times and select which apps are included.

Here’s a step-by-step guide:

  1. Open Settings: Launch the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Go to Notifications: Tap on “Notifications” within the Settings app.
  3. Access Scheduled Summary: Scroll down and tap on “Scheduled Summary”.
  4. Enable Scheduled Summary: Toggle the switch next to “Scheduled Summary” to turn it on.
  5. Schedule Summary Times: Tap “Continue” and you’ll see a list of scheduled times. Tap on the default times (e.g., “1st Summary”) to adjust them.
  6. Customize with Additional Summaries (Optional): You can add more summaries by tapping “Add Summary” and setting the times.
  7. Select Apps: Scroll down to “Apps in Summary” and toggle the switches next to the apps you want included in the summary.
  8. Fine-tune Preview Options: You can adjust settings like “Show Previews” and “Preview Time” to customize how notifications appear in the summary.
