It’s not a problem for me, but if you have a problem with desktop clutter (on the Mac Desktop, not your physical one), Eternal Storms has an app for you: DeskMat.
It lets you cover up the files and folders on your Desktop with a simple button click, making for cleaner streams, video conferencing, screen sharing, and distraction-free work. You can do it manually, or set up Auto-triggers that make DeskMat automatically cover your Desktop whenever specific apps launch or come to the foreground. As for the wallpaper, you can choose between your active wallpaper, a solid color, a custom image, or blurring your Desktop in different appearances.
DeskMat also has several other usefulfeatures. You can place the toggle button on your main screen, all screens, in your menu bar, or nowhere. And if you have multiple displays, you have the option of hiding all your Desktops, or just one.
All these are cool features, but DeskMat gets even better in version 1.1. Previous versions of the app used a static screenshot of what your wallpaper looked like at the time of activation. With version 1.1 the app can now mirror changes to your wallpaper live, as they happen, which is pretty cool.
A demo is available for download. And DeskMat is also available at the Mac App Store for US$3.99.
