The US$149.95 Quattro Wireless Charger Pro 4 is available exclusively on Apple’s online store — and it sounds a lot like Apple’s abandoned AirPower product.
The charger offers 4 x 15W wireless output and can charge up to four devices at once. It’s Qi2 certified, is MagSafe compatible, and offers a magnetic connection. The Quattro Wireless Charger Pro is made of aluminum. The stand connects to a wall outlet with an included 65W power adapter and a power cord, with various plug adapters included for international use.
As for the AirPower, it was originally announced in September 2017 alongside the iPhone X. It was supposed to be able to charge a Qi-compatible iPhone, an Apple Watch, and a pair of AirPods (in a special wireless charging case) at the same time regardless of where they were placed on the pad.
However, there were constant rumors of production, engineering, and manufacturing difficulties. Seems those rumors were right, as Apple announced in March 2018 that work on the device was being canceled as, in Apple’s words, it “will not achieve our high standards.”
