Analyst: 2026 iPhone 18s will sport an Apple-built C2 modem

Forget iPhone 17 rumors; let’s look at what’s predicted for the iPhone 18 in 2026. 

In a note to clients — as noted by MacRumors — analyst Jeff Pu says next year’s Apple smartphones will sport the C2 modem, a follow-up to Apple’s C1 modem. And he adds that those smartphones will pack a 3nm A20 processor updated for Apple Intelligence.

Speaking of next year’s iPhones, Forget iPhone 17 rumors. Let’s look ahead to 2026’s iPhone 18. in a Medium post, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reiterated that the main rear camera on the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will offer a variable aperture. With variable aperture, users would be able to control the amount of light that passes through the camera’s lens and reaches the sensor.

In other rumors about the iPhone 18 models, in a Weibo post, Chinese-language user “Phone Chip Expert” said Apple’s A20 chip in iPhone 18 models will switch from the previous InFo (Integrated Fan-Out) packaging to WMCM (Wafer-Level Multi-Chip Module) packaging, while memory will be upgraded to 12GB. The result should be an iPhone with more RAM and more speed while running cooler.
