In an X post, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says the iPhone SE replacement, and new iPads will launch “by April if all goes according to plans.”
The upcoming update of the iPhone SE will see the device renamed the iPhone 16E, according to the leaker known as Majin Bu. The Sellers Research Group (that’s me) is skeptical.
Apple’s third-generation iPhone SE (or iPhone 16E) will feature an iPhone XR-like design with Touch ID and be the company’s last iPhone with an LCD display, according to Chinese site MyDrivers — as noted by MacRumors. I beg to differ. I think the next iPhone SE will have the same basic design as the current model. However, I do agree that it will have Touch ID and be Apple’s last smartphone with an LCD screen.
In July DigiTimes claimed that Apple will update the iPhone SE, its 4.7-inch entry-level iPhone, with an updated A14 Bionic processor in the first half of 2022. Sounds about right.
As for an iPad 11, expect to see the same design, but be updated with an A18 processor for Apple Intelligence support.
Gurman has said that new iPad Air models will focus on internal improvements. What’s more, Apple is preparing an updated version of its Magic Keyboard accessory for both the 11-inch and 13-inch versions of the new Air, he predicts.
