Apple’s second-generation Vision Pro headset with an M5 chip may not launch until 2026, according to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman in his latest “Power On” newsletter. However, he adds that it could arrive in late 2025.
Apple is purportedly developing a second generation of the spatial computer with a faster processor, but few design changes. Meanwhile, Gurman thinks Apple may release a new Vision Pro next year for about US$2,000, compared to the current model’s starting price of US3,499.
He said that Apple will lower the price by using a less powerful processor and more plastic, less aluminum and glass. Gurman adds that the next version of the spatial computer will also drop the EyeSight feature. EyeSight reveals your eyes on the front of your Apple Vision Pro, and lets those nearby know when you’re using apps or fully immersed in an experience.
However, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo doesn’t think we’ll see a less expensive spatial computer from Apple until 2027.
The Sellers Research Group (that’s me) thinks we’ll see such a computer (let’s call it the “Apple Vision”) by fall 2025. And I think we’ll see the Apple Vision Pro 2 before the end of 2025.
Further down the line, I expect Apple to release an augmented reality headset that look much like regular eyeglasses in 2027.
