A new report shedding light on American password use found that 45% of Americans do nothing when notified that their password is compromised. 

A new report shedding light on American password use found that 45% of Americans do nothing when notified that their password is compromised. 

HostingAdvice.com says that Americans have an average of 17 passwords to remember, and 65% struggle to do so. Highlights from the report: 

  • Forty-three percent have had their passwords hacked or compromised
  • Passwords are hacked an average of twice, compromised an average four times
  • 55% change the password for compromised sites

HostingAdvice.com says the most popular way to change a password is to modify an existing one. Popular passwords include “1234,” “admin,” and the old favorite, “password.”
