A supply-chain report from United News Networks claims that Apple partner Foxconn has been selected by the tech giant to make the robot arm and casings for Apple’s (rumored) tabletop robot.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has reported that Apple has a “team of several hundred people” working on a “pricey tabletop home device that combines an iPad-like display with a robotic limb.” He says the product’s display will be able to tilt up and down and spin 360 degrees with an actuator and a “thin robotic arm to move around a large display.”
Gurman adds that the device is envisioned as a smart home command center, videoconferencing machine and remote-controlled home security tool. No word on when such a gadget might actually see the light of day.
