Troy Kotsur of Apple TV+’s ‘CODA’” sees his Oscar (and Jeep) stolen, then recovered

Troy Kotsur

Academy Award winner Troy Kotsur of Apple TV+’s “CODA” was being honored by his hometown of Mesa, Arizona. But he almost lost his biggest honor of all, reports Deadline.

Kotsur reported on his Twitter account that a car thief hopped into his Jeep and took off. The “CODA”actor was to be honored Thursday for his achievement in becoming the first primarily deaf actor to win an Oscar, so he brought the trophy with him to the ceremony. The Jeep and trophy have been recovered.

Kotsur won Best Supporting Actor for “CODA,” which was named Best Picture at the 2022 Academy Awards. He is the first Deaf male actor to win Best Supporting Actor.
