As expected, 15 games have been removed from Apple Arcade

Four new games have been added to Apple Arcade, Apple’s game streaming service. They are: Wheel of Fortune Daily (based on the TV game show), Drive Ahead! Carcade (a car racing game), Arkanoid vs. Space Invaders (a space shooter game), and Texas Hold ‘em Poker; Pokerist.

On July 18, it was reported that Apple Arcade will be losing 15 games, according to a new section in the Arcade area of the App Store titled “Leaving Arcade Soon.” Those games are now gone.

On July 21, Apple published a support document that clarifies what happens when games are removed from its Apple Arcade subscription service.

From the support doc: Games might sometimes leave Apple Arcade. If you download a game before it leaves Arcade, you can play the game for at least two weeks after. If you try to launch an Arcade game that is no longer playable, you receive a No Longer Available message.

After a game leaves Arcade, the game developer might choose to make their game available on the App Store. These games might vary from the Arcade version. If the developer makes their game available on the App Store and allows you to load your saved progress, you can pick up where you left off in the Arcade version.

The gang at MacRumors says a source tells them that when ‌‌Apple Arcade‌‌ first launched, Apple signed three-year deals with a number of developers, and some of these contracts are apparently nearing expiry and not being renewed, which is why the games have been removed.
