° From MacRumors: Two websites that provided download links for pre-release Apple software like iOS 16, iPadOS 16, macOS Ventura, and tvOS 16 have shut down in recent weeks, including BetaProfiles.com and IPSW.dev. Both websites are no longer accessible.
° From iMore: The CEO and founder of Telegram, Pavel Durov, has slammed Apple over claims the company has delayed in reviewing and approving a major new update to the messaging app that Durov says will “revolutionize how people express themselves in messaging.”
° From 9to5Mac: Perhaps the biggest Apple news of the week is that the battery percentage icon is finally back in the iPhone’s status bar with the release of iOS 16 beta 5. While it’s been a surprisingly controversial change, there’s already an app that can bring the same battery percentage design to your MacBook.
° From AppleInsider: A UK man has been sentenced to nine weeks in prison after using Apple’s AirTags to track his ex-partner’s car.
° From The Mac Observer: Developer Felix Krause of Fastlane warns that in-app browsers, such as the ones used by Meta, can be a massive privacy risk to users.
° From MacVoices Live! The new episode offers some final thoughts by the MacVoices Live! panel on virtualization by Chuck Joiner, Jeff Butts, David Ginsburg, Warren Sklar, Jeff Gamet, Jim Rea, and Andrew Orr, as the discussion turns to the availability of an ARM-based version of Windows, how to get it, and how to install it.
