Apple may be working on an update of the HomePod mini, though it won’t be ‘super impressive’

A new study by Parks Associates shows that 71% of HomePod owners use their devices regularly.

In his latest Power On newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says  Apple is considering updating the ‌HomePod mini‌. He doesn’t offer details on what such an update would entail, but thinks won’t be “super-impressive.”

Gurman has previously said that Apple is working on a HomePod that, size-wise, falls between the original HomePod (discontinued in March 2021) and the HomePod mini. In an April Power On newsletter, he speculated that the tech giant is working on a new HomePod product that combines a speaker, Apple TV functions, and a FaceTime camera.

“I absolutely do think a new HomePod is coming — specifically, a device that combines a HomePod, Apple TV and FaceTime camera,” he wrote. “I don’t think a big stand-alone HomePod is still in development, but perhaps a new HomePod mini is coming. In any case, the combination product will probably be at the center of Apple’s approach, with HomePod minis surrounding that throughout the home.”
