Despite a slight dip in sales, the iPad still dominates the global tablet market

IDC's global tablet market share chart for 2Q22

Worldwide tablet shipments reached 40.5 million units during the second quarter of 2022 (2Q22), posting year-over-year growth of 0.15%, according to preliminary data from IDC. However, Apple’s iPad sales dipped a little due to supply restrains.

Apple sold 12.6 million iPads during 2Q22 for 31% market share compared to 12.9 million units and 32% in 2Q21. Apple is still the market leader.

Samsung sold 7.3 million tablets for 18.1% market share in 2Q22. Rounding out the top five with their sold units and market share were: Amazon (5.5 million, 13.6%); Lenovo (3.5 million, 8.7%), and Huawei (2.1 million, 5.3%).
