Look for big changes to the windowing, multitasking features in iPadOS 16

In his latest Power On Newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says he’s expecting “major changes” to the windowing and multitasking features in iPadOS 16.

From his report: This was affirmed by a finding from Steve Troughton-Smith, which hints that Apple is building support into its web browsing framework for better windowing support.

When it comes to other operating system updates, Gurman predicts:

° macOS will get some redesigned apps and a much-needed overhaul to System Preferences to make them more in line with Settings on iOS.

° tvOS will get more smart-home tie-ins.

As for new hardware, he thinks the only likely announcement at the upcoming WWDC could be a MacBook Air with M2 chips.

Apple will host its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in an online format (as it has since the global COVID pandemic) from June 6 through 10, free for all developers to attend.

WWDC22 will, of course, showcase the latest innovations in iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS, while giving developers access to Apple engineers and technologies to learn how to create apps and interactive experiences.
