Notable apps and updates: November 17

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they deserve mention. Here are today’s picks.

macOS

Ergonis Software has announced PopChar X 9.3, an update to its tool for finding and inserting special characters and exploring fonts on macOS. PopChar works with all modern applications that support Unicode. It’s designed to make easy to navigate and search within fonts that contain thousands of characters. 

You can search for characters by their names or their shape, and so much more. Version 9.3 adds support for Unicode 14 and offers increased compatibility with macOS Monterey.

PopChar X 9.3 requires macOS 10.10 or higher. For new users the cost is approximately US$30. A demo is available for download. The 9.3 upgrade is free for anyone who purchased a license for PopChar X in or after May 2020. Upgrade paths are available for owners of older licenses. All PopChar X purchases (new and upgrades alike) include subsequent 9.x upgrades at no additional charge.

CS Odessa has rolled out ConceptDraw OFFICE 8. the next generation of its business graphic software suite for macOS and Windows. 

The latest edition of the ConceptDraw OFFICE software suite provides business professionals with features for each of its components and enhanced access to integrated solutions for business diagramming, mind mapping, and project management. ConceptDraw OFFICE 8 contains a number of enhancements to help professionals visualize, maintain, and communicate.

ConceptDraw OFFICE 8 is compatible with the latest versions of macOS and Windows. On the Mac platform, it requires macOS 10.15 or later. It includes ConceptDraw DIAGRAM 15, ConceptDraw MINDMAP 13, ConceptDraw PROJECT 12. ConceptDraw OFFICE 8 retails for $299 with all its components available in a suite and individually.

Zevrix Solutions has released LinkOptimizer 6.1.3, a compatibility update to the company’s image workflow automation solution for Adobe InDesign. 

The tool reduces InDesign links size automatically and converts image formats and other properties. LinkOptimizer resizes images to their InDesign dimensions, converts link colors, runs Photoshop actions and more. Version 6.1.3 adds support for the recently released InDesign 2022 and macOS Monterey.

LinkOptimizer 6.1.3 can be purchased from the Zevrix website for $259.95; a “lite” version is available for $179.95. A demo is available for download. The update is free for LinkOptimizer 6.x users and $130 to upgrade from previous versions. LinkOptimizer requires macOS 10.9-12.x and Adobe InDesign / Photoshop CS6-2022.
