How to turn notifications off in the iOS 15 Weather app

The Weather app in iOS 15 boasts an all-new design with full-screen maps, graphical displays of weather data, and dynamic layouts that change based on conditions. And animated backgrounds more accurately reflect sun position, clouds, and precipitation, and notifications indicate when rain or snow is about to start or stop.

You can receive a weather notification when rain, snow, hail, or sleet is about to start or stop in your current location. You can also receive precipitation notifications for locations in your weather list (not available in all countries or regions).

To receive notifications, turn on Location Access in Settings. Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Weather, then tap Always. Turn on Precise Location to receive the most accurate notifications for your current location.

To manage notifications by location, do the following:

  1. Open Weather, then tap  the icon that looks like three parallel lines and dots to view your weather list.
  2. Tap the icon that looks like a black circle with three dots inside, then tap Notifications.
  3. Tap on or off for each location (green is on).
  4. Tap Done.

(This how-to is based on my experiences and info on Apple’s support pages.)
