° From The Verge: Facebook is planning to change its company name next week to reflect its focus on building the metaverse.

° From Patently Apple: A new class action has been filed in the District Court for the Western District of New York, Buffalo Division, against Apple by Trenise McTyere and Lucille Clark for misleading consumers into believing it is selling them Digital Content on iTunes, even though it is only providing them with a license.

° From Studio Network Solutions (SNS): EVO video editing servers are now officially certified for Apple ProRes codec technology. EVO and its included suite of software tools now feature integrated ProRes transcoding for enhanced remote video editing workflows.

° From Ata Distance: Apple Pay WAON and Apple Pay nanaco launched Oct. 21. The popular prepaid e-Money cards are two of the last big three holdouts that have been on Osaifu Keitai mobile phones for some time.

° From MacVoices Live!: After a day of contemplation and review of the details available, the MacVoices Live! panel of David Ginsburg, Mark Fuccio, Jeff Gamet, Guy Serle, Jim Rea, Brittany Smith, and Kelly Guimont take on Apple’s “Unleashed” event. They start off with host Chuck Joiner being corrected on one assumption about the Apple Music Voice Plan, mourn (more or less) the loss of the Touch Bar, and dig into some of the technical details of the new M1 Pro and M1 Max chips.
