Notable apps and updates: October 13

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they deserve mention. Here are today’s picks.

macOS

St. Clair Software has released Default Folder X 5.6, an update to its utility for macOS.

Default Folder X enhances the file dialogs in all macOS applications. It provides fast navigation to your files, previews, integrated Spotlight tagging, and more. Default Folder X’s custom keyboard shortcuts put favorite and recent folders at your fingertips. Version 5.6 delivers support for macOS 12.0 Monterey along with numerous refinements.

Default Folder 5.6 requires macOS 10.10 or higher. It’a free update for existing version 5 users. New licenses are US$34.95; upgrades from version 4 and prior are $14.95. 

Smile has announced TextExpander 7.0, the latest update for the typing shortcut tool for macOS, Windows, Chrome, iPhone, and iPad. The utility lets you instantly insert snippets of text from a repository of emails, boilerplate, and other content as you type using a quick search or abbreviation. Version 7 sports a new, streamlined look and feel.

TextExpander 7.0 requires macOS 10.14 or higher. It costs $8.33 per user per month for the Team plan, which offers data and user management, billing, and statistics. iOS

Apple has updated its Apple Support application for iPhone and iPad to version version 4.4.
