Apple TV+ has opted not to order a second season of Mr. Corman, A24’s half-hour schoolteacher comedy-drama created, written, directed, executive produced and headlined by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, reports Deadline.
It’s the second series to be canceled by Apple. The first was “Little Voices,” which included J.J. Abrams and Sara Bareilles among its executive producers.
The last episode of “Mr. Corman” aired on Friday. The series premiered Aug. 6 to mostly solid reviews (70% on Rotten Tomatoes) but didn’t draw a wide audience on the platform the way other Apple TV+ comedy series have done this past summer, including flagship “Ted Lasso,” “Schmigadoon!,” “Physical,” “Mythic Quest,” and “Trying,” which have either been renewed or looking good for renewal, according to Deadline.
The article notes that Apple TV+ remains in business with Gordon-Levitt who is executive producing and voicing a lead character in the streamer’s new animated children’s series Wolfboy and the Everything Factory, which dropped all 10 episodes of its first season Sept. 24.
