Notable apps and updates: September 2

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they’re popular and deserve mention. Here are today’s picks.

iOS

Readdle has launched Documents X for the iPhone and iPad. It’s a completely redesigned version of Documents.

A few key elements at the heart of the new Documents X are: Smart Actions to speed up your workflows; faster access to cloud storages; and a redesigned interface. It’s free, but does offer in-app purchases.

Chad Etzel has announced Sticker Doodle for the iPhone and iPad. The app allows anyone to create their own stickers and then send them via the Messages app. Sticker Doodle supports the Apple Pencil for more advanced doodling on an iPad, but works just as well using a finger on an iPhone. People can even send photos as stickers and turn doodles into Slack emojis and Discord stickers. Sticker Doodle supports seven languages.

Sticker Doodle is a free download from the App Store. An optional in-app purchase is available for people who want to create more than five stickers. The Sticker Doodle in-app purchase supports Family Sharing, so families only need to pay once to unlock unlimited sticker creation for all.

Quark Solutions has introduced All My Guitars 2.1. It’s an update of the app designed for anyone serious about their guitar collection.

All My Guitars allows input of information about each guitar, along with images and a sound sample. You can create a PDF of your entire collection for documentation, insurance purposes or just to share with other guitar aficionado.

AllMyGuitars 2.1 is free, but does offer in-app purchases. It works with iOS/iPadOS 14.5 or later and macOS 11.3 or later.

macOS

Data Theorem, a provider of modern application security, has announced that new functionality in its Analyzer Engine delivers unified application security (AppSec) support across Apple desktop, laptop and mobile devices using Apple M1 chips.

Now, dynamic application security testing (DAST), interactive application security testing (IAST), static application security testing (SAST), software composition analysis (SCA), and API security coverage can be automated using Data Theorem’s Analyzer Engine to increase DevSecOps support for iOS apps developed for Apple’s M1 devices. Data Theorem now enables organizations to use a unified AppSec solution to support applications built for iOS and MacOS M1 devices.
