Apple’s corporate treasurer, Gary Wipfler, 62, is retiring after 35 years at the tech giant, reports Bloomberg. He oversaw Apple’s cash balance, investments, and capital-return programs.
Wipfler has degrees from the University of Washington (a B.S. in business) and the Santa Clara University Leavey School of Business (a MBA). In 2016, he received the Foster School Distinguished Leadership Awards from the University of Washington. Wipfler has said he learned volumes from the leaders he who have built this amazing company—Steve Jobs and beyond.
“Leadership is about striving to do things the right way, and leading and teaching by example,” he said “It’s about being smart but not arrogant. It’s about being honest and curious, listening, and encouraging the team to take measured risks, pushing the team to continually try to evolve.”
