Apple has released a standalone “Device Support Update” for macOS Big Sur. According to Apple’s release notes, the update “ensures proper updating and restoring for iOS and iPadOS devices with a Mac.”
To update your Mac, go to System Preferences and Software Update. the update requires 195.7 MB disk space.
