Analyst: ‘California Streaming’ event to debut new iPhones, Apple Watches, AirPods

In a note to clients — as noted by MacRumors — analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says we’ll see (as expected) new iPhones, Apple Watches, and AirPods at tomorrow’s “California Streaming” event. The event will be held at 10 a.m. (Pacific) and, of course, Yours Truly will be covering it.

AirPods 3

The AirPods are the product with the fewest leaked/rumored details. Kuo says Apple may price the third-generation ‌AirPods‌ higher than the current second-generation ‌AirPods‌, keeping the existing model in the line. On the other hand, the analyst thinks the tech giant may reduce the price of the existing ‌AirPods‌ and replace their spot in the lineup with the third-generation ‌AirPods‌ at the current $199 price point. Either way, Kuo says Apple will keep the second-generation ‌AirPods‌ in the lineup for customers who prefer the older design.

iPhone 13

Rumors/speculation about the iPhone 13 include:

° Some models may sport low earth orbit (LEO) satellite communication connectivity.

° It will cost 3-5% more than the iPhone 12.

° It will have Face ID hardware that will work with masks and foggy glasses.

° At least some models will support ProRes for videos and Portrait Mode for video.

° It will add advanced photo filters.

° It will pack an A15 processor.

° It will have an “always-on” display like the Apple Watch.

° It will adopt the improved Wi-Fi 6E protocol.

° High-end models of the upcoming iPhone 13 lineup will sport an upgraded ultra-wide camera with autofocus.

° Some, perhaps all, models will have LiDAR sensors.

Apple Watch Series 7

Rumors/speculation about the Apple Watch Series 7 include:

° It will come in 41mm and 45mm models. That’s up from the current 40mm and 44mm sizes.

° It will have bigger watch faces to accommodate the bigger screens.

° It will have a blood pressure sensor.

° It will have a new design and speaker grills.

° It will pack a smaller “S7” chip that would leave more room for a larger battery or other components.

° It be offered in a green hue.

° It will sport a faster processor.

° It will sport a “new lamination technique” that raises the watch’s display closer to the top cover.

° It will borrow updated ultra-wideband technology from the Apple AirTag key finder.
