WaterField Design introduces the Packable Duffel

WaterField Design has introduced the Packable Duffel, an US$125, 15-ounce duffel that packs into an interior pocket for stashing into a suitcase or bag.

Cinching mechanisms allow it to expand or contract from 30 to 24 liters to fit various size loads. A liner adds durability and is easy to clean, according to Gary Waterfield, company owner. Pockets with waterproof zippers keep small items organized and protected from the elements. The bag’s custom high-tech fabric remains unwrinkled and sleek enough to take anywhere, says Waterfield.

Two weatherproof, zippered pockets safeguard valuables. The one on the front includes a sewn-in key hook; there’s another inside the duffel. There are various ways to carry the Packable Duffel. Straps are long enough to wear over the shoulder and short enough to hold by hand. A rear strap slides over a wheeled suitcase handle for a hands-free carry through airports. The interior zippered pocket compactly stows the folded duffel so it can be carried within another bag.

The foldable duffel is made from a custom combination of soft-to-the-touch, fine-textured Taslan nylon, laminated with tricot fabric for structure, says Waterfield.  A custom micro-porous coating repels water and wrinkles but allows breathability, and a silver, diamond-patterned, ripstop nylon liner illuminates the interior and is easy to clean, he adds.
