Rumors of the day: new 14-inch, 16-inch MacBooks, iPhone 13

The former two are rumored to debut at WWDC

The rumor mill is abuzz today with rumors of new MacBooks and features of the iPhone 13. Let’s look at the speculation.

New 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros

First: in a note to clients — as noted by MacRumors — Webush analyst Daniel Ives says Apple will announce new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros next week. Expect them be previewed Monday during the keynote address at the 2021 Worldwide Developer Conference.

Ives’ prediction calls for the expected changes to a revamped pro laptop. Say goodbye to the Touch Bar. Look for a more flat-edged design. Expect the return of the MagSafe charger, an HDMI port, and an SD card slot. Additionally, expect the new MacBook Pros to sport the successor to the M1 processor.

The Sellers Research Group (that’s me) thinks there’s a 100% chance all this will happen. And I expect the laptops to be unveiled on Monday. However, I don’t think they’ll go on sale until July or later.

Predictions for the upcoming iPhone 13

Moving along, Ives also reiterates previous rumors that some models of the iPhone 13 will be offered with up to 1TB of storage. Also, the analyst thinks all models will sport LiDAR sensors.

The Sellers Research Group (that’s me) thinks Ives is right on both counts. However, don’t look for any iPhone announcements next week. Instead I think new smartphones will be unveiled and ship in late summer/early fall.
