° Apple has posted a new webpage dubbed “Why Mac” that lists all the reasons ou should choose a Mac as your next computer.

° The ability to boot from an external drive on an Apple Silicon Mac may not be an option for much longer, with the creation and use of the drives apparently being phased out by Apple, according to a May 19 blog post by Mike Bombich, the founder of Bombich Software.

° Per MacRumors: Apple has filed the unreleased “Beats Studio Buds” in the FCC or Federal Communications Commission database under model numbers A2512 and A2513.

° Bummer. After more than a year of successfully managing the Covid-19 pandemic, Taiwan, the world’s largest producer of semiconductors, is witnessing a sudden exponential rise in infections that could further affect the global chip shortage, according to The Independent.

° Apple cofounder Steve “Woz” Wozniak is being sued for using his own nickname for “Woz U,” a failed tech school, reports Business Insider.

° As reported by 9to5Mac, AirTag Hermès is currently unavailable for purchase from Apple or directly from the Hermès website. No idea why.

° A coordinated effort giving Facebook one-star reviews on the App Store, and elsewhere, is being treated as severe by the social media giant, notes AppleInsider.

° A 20-year-old man in Texas has accepted a two-year prison sentence for his part in a multistate Apple Store theft ring in early 2018. According to The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.

° Say what? A jailed drug dealer says he wants to go to the Apple Store so he can get help from a Genius because his Mac might hold evidence that could prove important in his defense.

° iFixIt — the gang that tears apart electronic devices and examines their innards so you don’t have to — has provided a teardown of the 24-inch iMac.
