A test by DXOMark found that the iPhone 12 Pro Max came in fourth when it comes to battery life, following the Oppo Find X3 Neo, Wiko Power U30, and Samsung Galaxy M51. However, it ranks number one when other features such as the display and audio are factored in.
“With an overall Battery score of 78, the Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max puts in a respectable performance that lands it in the top four in our database so far,” according to DXOMark. “While it has an average score for Charging, and an above-average score for Autonomy, it is the current score leader for Efficiency thus far (but as ever, numbers alone don’t quite tell the whole story).”
The report says a fully charged iPhone 12 Pro has an average battery life of two days and one hour. Full charging time is two hours, 27 minutes.
DXOMark’s scoring system is based on the aggregated results for Autonomy, Charging, and Efficiency, and requires approximately 6.5 days of testing. In practice, that means 150 hours of charges and discharges, totaling 70 measurements (of which 30 are related to autonomy). The folks at DXOMark say they recombine these autonomy measurements with battery capacity to produce battery consumption information (for a total of 100 parameters).
DXOMark is a commercial website described as “an independent benchmark that scientifically assesses smartphones, lenses and cameras.”
