Apple announces Podcasts Subscriptions affiliate program

Apple has announced an affiliate program for its Podcasts Subscriptions, which the company announced on April 20.

The company describes it as “a global marketplace for listeners to discover premium subscriptions offered by their favorite creators alongside millions of free shows on Apple Podcasts.”

Listeners in more than 170 countries and regions can sign up for premium subscriptions that include a variety of benefits curated by creators, such as ad-free listening, access to additional content, and early or exclusive access to new series.

According to Apple, here’s how the affiliate program works: When you join the Apple Services Performance Partner Program (also known as the affiliate program), you’ll have immediate access to reporting data on all your linked podcast marketing activities, including email, social promotions, digital ads, and more, and earn commissions each time a subscription purchase is made from an affiliated link you share. This is in addition to any other payments you may receive directly from the sales of your premium content — it’s a simple way for you to maximize your income on Apple Podcasts.

Simply fill out an application and it will be reviewed by Apple. After you’re approved for the program, we will give you a unique affiliate token. This is a short string of alphanumeric characters that you will add to all of your Apple Podcasts links. This token is unique to you, centralizes all podcast revenue generated from those affiliated links, and is compatible with third-party link tracking services. When one of your listeners clicks on these links and becomes a paid subscriber, you receive affiliate commission on all podcast-related subscription purchases made within the next 30 days.

By linking to Apple Podcasts as an affiliate, you can earn a one-time payment of 50% on the first paid month of every subscription membership you drive on a 30-day cookie window. For example, if you link to a podcast subscription costing $10 USD, you will earn $5 USD in equivalent commissions. This payment scales globally based on the local market price and where podcasts are available.
