Apple TV+’s “Servant” series and “Greyhound” film took home honors for sound editing at the 68th Golden Reel Awards, notes The Hollywood Reporter.
“Greyhound” and “Soul” — along with “Mank,” “News of the World,” and “Sound of Metal” were nominated for the Oscar for sound–a new category combining what was previously two separate categories for sound editing and sound mixing. All five movies were also nominated for Cinema Audio Society Awards for sound mixing, which will be handed out during a virtual ceremony on Saturday.
“Greyhound” won for “Outstanding Achievement in Sound Editing—Feature Effects/Foley.” The Apple TV+ movie, “Cherry,” was also nominated in the category.
The “The Hope That Kills You” episode of “Ted Lasso” was nominated for “Outstanding Achievement in Sound Editing-Live Action Under 35 minutes,” but lost to the “2:00” episode of “Servant.”
Apple TV’s animated film, “Wolfwalkers,” was nominated for, but didn’t win, “Outstanding Achievement in Sound Editing-Feature Animation.” That award went to Disney/Pixar’s “Soul.”
Apple TV+’s “Beasty Boys Story” documentary was nominated for “Outstanding Achievement in Sound Editing—Non-Theatrical Documentary,” but lost to “Laura Canyon: A Place in Time.”
The Golden Reed Awards are given by the Motion Picture Sound Editors association. In addition to honoring the creative work on feature films, broadcast, gaming, and interactive media, the MPSE bestows two awards of individual recognition.
