Apple cuts price of nano-texture glass option for its 27-inch iMac by $200

Apple has cut the price of optional nano-texture glass on its 27-inch iMac models by US$200, notes MacRumors. The feature was originally available on the biggest as a $500 upgrade option, but Apple is now offering it for $300.

The iMac with a nano-texture glass option — first introduced on the Apple Pro Display XDR — offers even better viewing under various lighting conditions, such as a bright room or indirect sunlight. Unlike typical matte finishes that have a coating added to the surface to scatter light, this industry-leading option is produced through an innovative process that etches the glass itself at the nanometer level, according to Tom Boger, Apple’s senior director of Mac and iPad Product Marketing. The result is extremely low reflectivity and less glare while maintaining stellar image quality and contrast, he adds.
