Let the Apple Car rumors roll on. Apple has been granted a patent (number 10,960,723) for “wheel-mounted suspension actuators” for a vehicle.
The goal is to make riding in an auto more comfortable. Per Apple, active suspension actuators can respond to forces applied to the wheels of a vehicle. For example, forces can be applied in opposition to a bump or vibration to lessen the sensation associated with the bump or vibration.
Here’s the summary of the invention: “A vehicle wheel assembly includes a wheel, a tire supported by the wheel, an internal space defined by the wheel, a wheel hub that is rotatably connected to the wheel and is located in the internal space, and a mass actuator that is connected to the wheel hub and located in the internal space.”
