Notable apps and updates: March 9

On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they’re popular and deserve mention. Here are today’s picks.

iOS

Super Awesome Mix has launched Super Awesome Mix for the iPhone. It’s described as a “celebration of music, a celebration of mix tapes, and a celebration of the story telling power of creating mixes for one another.”

Super Awesome Mix walks users through the steps of creating and sending a mix tape. It’s free, but requires an active Apple Music subscription to work. There’s also a premium version that features currently include an optional US$0.99 in-app purchase that can be made per mix to allow for a 30 second voice introduction to be added and sent along the tracks.

Gryphos has released Shaderific 5.2, an update of its OpenGL ES shader development app.

It’s designed to help computer science students and experienced developers to get started with OpenGL ES 2.0 and OpenGL ES 3.0 shader development. The app makes it possible to write, compile and test shader programs directly on any iOS or iPad device without ever touching a laptop or desktop computer. Version 5.2 adds improved import functionality and a new color picker.

Shaderific is available at the App Store for $19.99. It requires iOS/iPad OS 14.4 or later.

S!NG, a developer of tools that allow creators to control distribution and monetize their work, has launched a free mobile application designed to instantly mint NFTs to sell or license online.

NFTs, or non-fungible tokens, allow artists to create verifiably-unique originals of their work, while protecting intellectual property. Creators will have the ability to monetize directly with fans in a way that’s never been possible before now, claims S!NG. The app is free to download for iOS, and can be used with no experience in Blockchain or NFT technology.
