The Apple Mac’s share of the global laptop market rises to 9.1%

As remote working and e-learning continues worldwide, demand for laptops was at its highest ever in quarter four of 2020, driving 54% year-on-year growth for notebook shipments, according to Strategy Analytics. During the quarter, Apple shipped 19.7 million Mac laptops.

That’s quarter-over-quarter growth of 58% and year-over-year growth of 28%. Apple is now the fourth largest global laptop brand with 9.1% of the market, following Lenovo (25.6%), HP (22.6%), and Dell (16.6%).

And with more M1 Mac laptops coming, the Sellers Research Group (that’s me) is certain the Mac numbers will surge. By the way, Strategy Analytics doesn’t include iPads in its tally of laptops and notebook computers.
