Let the Apple Car rumors roll on. Ministers of Parliament in the United Kingdom are urging the government to make a bid for Apple to manufacture its electric cars in Britain, saying such a move would be a “no brainer,” according to the Telegraph (a subscription is required to read the entire article).
Bracknell Conservative MP James Sutherland told the publication that Apple could “bring new car production to the UK, use the high-tech workforce that we already have, create new jobs and build electric cars.”
Doncaster Conservative MP Nick Fletcher added: ”As the economy recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic this year, we should be engaging with new, innovative industries that help boost economic growth while helping the environment.”
Yesterday, it was reported that Apple and Hyundai were no longer in discussions for partnering to make a vehicle. However, Webush bank analyst Daniel Ives isn’t sure such a deal is dead. In a note to clients — as noted by AppleInsider — he expects Apple to announce a car partnership in the first half of this year likely with Hyundai or Volkswagen.
“While the timing of an EV partnership with the likes of Hyundai, or another automaker, remains a key focus of the Street and EV industry over the coming months we assign a 85%+ chance that Apple will announce an EV partnership/collaboration over the next 3 to 6 months,” he said.
