An ‘Apple TV Pro’ paired with an iPad could make for enhanced TV viewing

This is probably a pipe dream, but I’d love the the ability to use the iPad (or iPhone) as a second, and interactive screen, when watching TV on an “Apple TV Pro” set-top box.

When my family is gathered around the HDTV, we frequently use our iPads and iPhones to supplement our viewing. We’ll look up background info on a show. We’ll check on what other shows or movies an actor has been in. That sort of thing.

However, Apple could take this to the next level and eliminate all the manual data entry and searching. Imagine an Apple TV Pro that could “beam” info to an app — on your iPads and iPhones when all the devices are on the same Wi-Fi network. The signal from the TV hardware would “tell” the app on the iPad/iPhone to serve up news content and biographies of the show/movie’s actors, directors, screenwriters, etc. You could also access Facebook and Twitter posts about the show/movie, as well as post your own comments and tweets.

Of course, you’d use your iPad/iPad as the remote control for your Apple TV set-top. There are doubtless many other innovative ways in which an Apple TV Pro paired with an iPad or iPad could enhance how we watch TV.
