On a regular basis, Apple World Today posts a list of notable new apps or app updates that have been released. They may not necessarily be new, but they’re popular and deserve mention. Here are this week’s picks.
macOS
Cocoatech has released Path Finder 10, a paid update of the file browser for Path Finder 9 users on macOS 10.12 and higher.
The customizable app allows you to view hidden files, compare, merge and synchronize folders, batch rename files, use Dual Pane, browse and perform file operations on iOS devices and much more. Path Finder is extremely customizable and allows you to work how you want.
Version 10 has been optimized for macOS Big Sur and supports M1 Macs. It also adds file browsing and file operations on iOS devices connected to a USB port and AirDrop support (currently only for devices discoverable by “Everyone”).
You can try Path Finder for free for 30 days with all the features available to you during that period. Path Finder costs US$36 for a single user license applicable for up to three user-owned computers, and $18 when upgrading from version 9. The software is available for purchase from the Cocoatech online store or from within the application itself. Volume license discounts are available.
Streets, the street view browser app for iOS and Apple Watch, is now available in version 4.6 for the Mac.
It’s optimized to run on the new Macs with the M1/Apple Silicon processor. Now users can virtually travel the world right from their M1 Mac. To display the Street View panorama for any location in the Maps app, the pin can be dragged and dropped over to Streets.
Streets – Street View Browser costs US$2.99 and is available at the Mac App Store. It requires macOS 11 or higher and a Mac with a M1 chip.
Houdah Software has released HoudahSpot 6.0 for macOS, an update of the file search tool that helps Mac users organize and find files.
It combines file search with a customizable results display and previews. Version 6.0 adds user-requested enhancements, including the ability to find Apple Mail.app messages files and macOS Big Sur customization.
HoudahSpot requires macOS 10.14 or higher. It costs $34 for a single-user license. A family license is available for $42. Upgrades are priced $19 and $29, respectively. HoudahSpot licenses purchased on or after June 1, 2020, can upgrade for free. A full-featured trial version is available. Licenses can be purchased from the Houdah Software store. Upgrades are available upon loading a previous license.
Scorpion Research has announced Scorpion BarCode 3.20, an update to its barcode creation software for macOS.
It’s designed to help with the creation and printing of all major barcode symbologies in EPS, PDF, PNG, or TIFF file formats. With it you can integrate barcodes into database, spreadsheet, and word processor applications. A command line version is also provided to scripted solutions. Version 3.20 has been optimized for macOS Big Sur.
The app requires macOS 10.9 or later. It costs approximately $30 for new users. A demo is available for download at the Scorpion Research website.
Ilium Software has rolled out eWallet 8.5 for macOS, an update to their password management app.
Featuring military-grade 256-bit AES encryption for security, the app offers Mac users the ability to store, access, and protect passwords and other sensitive data such as bank account information from any device. Version 8.5 features Touch ID and support for Apple’s new Apple Silicon/M1 chip, as well as macOS Big Sur.
eWallet 8.5 requires macOS 10.13 or later. It costs $19.99 and is available at the Mac App Store.
Recosoft Corporation has launched ID2Office 2021, the newest version of its InDesign to Word, PowerPoint and Keynote conversion solution for Adobe InDesign 2021. ID2Office 2021 includes support for InDesign 2021 in addition to supporting InDesign CC through 2020 for both macOS and Windows systems.
The upgrade includes an enhanced graphics processing algorithm improving image and graphics separation in the resulting Office file types. ID2Office 2021 also identifies Arabic and Hebrew languages and more.
ID2Office 2021 is availableiately in the following configurations from the Recosoft web store (per license). ID2Office Standard 2021 annual subscription (macOS/Windows) is $199, and ID2Office Professional 2021 Annual subscription (macOS only) is $249.
Zevrix Solutions has released ArtOptimizer 3.1.10, a compatibility upgrade to company’s image workflow automation tool for Adobe Illustrator.
ArtOptimizer helps users reduce the size of Illustrator links and automate complex image transformations. The software also offers image format and color conversion, batch processing of Illustrator files, settings presets and more. Version 3.1.10 adds support for the recently released macOS Big Sur and fixes log display issues.
ArtOptimizer can be purchased from the Zevrix website for US$120. Licensed users of earlier versions can upgrade to ArtOptimizer 3 for $60. A demo is available for download. ArtOptimizer requires macOS 10.8-11.0 and Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop CS6-2021.
iOS
Former NFL player DeMarcus Ware has launched Driven To Win (D2W), a new fitness app available for download on the App Store that brings a professional sports workout training experience to anyone with an iPhone.
D2W offers 3D visualization and augmented reality features. Starting with the initial testing phase, it builds a personalized program and monitors your movement throughout the entire program. It also recommends exercises based on the muscles it determines you need to work on most.
To demonstrate how to perform exercises with the proper form and tempo, the app incorporates lifelike 3D model avatars of DeMarcus Ware and his fitness partner Angela Daniel that can be viewed from many angles. The app also includes advanced augmented reality features that place the avatars of Ware and Daniel directly in your space to demonstrate workouts.
Driven To Win includes multiple levels of workouts with five progression categories, including Stability, Endurance, Hypertrophy, Strength and Power. Driven To Win has three subscription options: $14.99 per month, $74.99 for 6 months, or $99.99 for the entire year. There is a one-week free trial offered with subscription purchase.
Golden Yacca has announced Golden Yacca Vegan Supplements 1.3.4, an update to their vegan supplements app for iOS and Android devices.
The app allows users to order vegan food supplements made with the naturally pure powder from the whole plant of the wild desert agave Yucca Schidigera, which comes from the high-altitude desert of the southwestern United States. Version 1.3.4 brings automatic device language detection, bug fixes, and performance updates.
Golden Yacca Vegan Supplements 1.3.4 requires iOS 12 or later. It’s free and is available at the App Store.
Smile has released PDFpen for iPad and iPhone 6.0, an update to their mobile PDF editor.
It allows users to add text, images, and signatures to PDFs, make corrections, resize and delete images, and fill out forms. PDFs can be annotated with comments and highlighting. Version 6 features continuous scrolling and an eraser tool for freehand scribbles.
PDFpen for iPad and iPhone requires iOS14 or iPadOS 14 or higher. It costs $6.99 and is available at the App Store.
Moxie.xyz has launched an iOS app that offers access to hundreds of live and recorded fitness and yoga classes every day (ranging from $5 – 15 per class).
It’s designed to provide an enhanced virtual studio experience; the ability to reserve and attend classes; and a personalized home page and class schedule.
